Yulong River
Took traditional bamboo rafts down the Yulong River along route Line 4 (3 km), floating past karst mountains and dropping over several small river weirs.

Yangshuo Mountain Retreat
Had lunch outside in the gardens of Yangshuo Mountain Retreat, ordering pizza, fried rice, and drinks with bamboo straws.

Impression Sanjie Liu
Planned evening visit to Impression Sanjie Liu outdoor performance was cancelled due to Matthew falling ill with acute food poisoning.

Basically, Matthew has become quite ill with food poisoning. He's been sick, so we just stayed in the room all night. We cancelled all our plans for the evening.

Travelshorts’ observation: Yulong River bamboo rafts strictly accommodate two passengers maximum; children were not allowed to ride together without an adult, requiring a family of three to split across two rafts.

They wouldn't let Holly and Matthew ride together. So unfortunately, Matthew is by himself now.

Travelshorts’ observation: Food poisoning after lunch forced the cancellation of pre-planned evening entertainment and could not be accommodated by changing train tickets to Hong Kong due to fully booked trains.

As Matthew was so ill all evening and all night I looked if we could rearrange our train tickets to Kong Kong, but it was impossible as there was not seats available for the next few days.

Speaking to the lady on reception, to get on these bamboo rafts, we just have to walk upstream about 10 minutes, and that's where they start from.
