   Had breakfast at the Club Lounge of the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel before departing for the Great Wall.

     After getting up really early and having breakfast at the Club Lounge at our hotel, the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel we catch the subway to Dongzhimen Subway Station

2. Experienced

   Dongzhimen Station

   Took Beijing subway to Dongzhimen Station to meet the Mubus tour guide at Exit B1.

     So we've made it to Dongzhimen. We now want to find Exit B1, and that's where we're going to meet our bus driver.

   Mutianyu Great Wall

   Traveled by Mubus coach from Dongzhimen to Mutianyu Great Wall (approx 1.5 hours).

     It took about an hour and a half to arrive at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China and then we caught the cable car to the top.

   Mubus Family Centre

   Arrived at Mutianyu Village and picked up Great Wall tickets from the Mubus Family Centre.

     So we've arrived at the Mutianyu Great Wall. We've picked up our tickets from the Mubus Family Centre, and now we're walking towards the shuttle bus

   Mutianyu Great Wall

   Rode the enclosed cable car up to the Mutianyu Great Wall through dense fog and mist.

     So we've made it onto the cable car. One little problem, though, the higher we go, the foggier and smoggier it becomes.

   Mutianyu Great Wall

   Hiked along the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall all the way to Watchtower 20.

     Once on the Great Wall of China we walked all the way to watch tower number 20 before coming back down. In total we spent a good couple of hours on the Great Wall of China and it was a great experience.

7. Skipped

   Mutianyu Great Wall

   Planned to ride the toboggan down from the Great Wall, but it was closed due to rain, so took the cable car down instead.

     Currently the toboggan is down because of the rain. We're going to go up in the cable car first.

   Ate the buffet lunch at the Mubus Family Centre in Mutianyu Village.

     So we're in the restaurant now. We've had a good selection of food, if I'm honest, especially for the price. It's really good value.

   Summer Palace

   Considered visiting the Summer Palace after the Great Wall, but skipped it because buildings close at 16:30 and the bus arrival was too late.

     The original plan was to go to the Summer Palace, but I'm having a quick look on the internet on my phone then. Looks like the buildings in the Summer Palace closed at 4:30, which means basically we're going to be too late.

10. Visited

    Wangfujing Street

    Explored Wangfujing pedestrian shopping street and a luxury shopping mall looking for a small suitcase.

      leave the shopping centre, and walk down the Wangfujing Shopping Street. We're back outside, and we're going to continue walking down Wangfujing Street.

    Drank freshly prepared handmade anti-greasy lemonade in the Wangfujing mall.

    Shopped at Beijing Walmart to stock up on snacks, drinks, crisps, sweets, and fruit for the next day's 5-hour train journey to Xi'an.

    Ate fresh grilled lamb kebab skewers and candied strawberries (tanghulu) on Qianmen Street.

      just finished our snacks on Qianmen Street, and they were really, really delicious. I love that lamb skewer. It was really tasty. And what's the name of the strawberry, Holly? Tanghulu.

    We're just going to get back on the subway and head towards Qianmen, where we're going to get some meat on a stick for Holly and Matthew because she really wants some meat on a stick, and now Matthew does as well. It's just two subway stops from where we are here, so it should only take a few minutes.
